General My classes My groups (external testing with branding) My Tests General Q) Can I add a theme to my Classes? A) No. Themes can only be used with External testing. Q) Can I change my account username? A) Yes, you can do this via the 'My account' section. Q) Can I view statistics on my tests, questions and learners? A) Yes. ClassMarker provides these statistics for upgraded Professional accounts and saved results for External tests. Q) Do learners need to be registered to take tests? A) No. You can use Groups to send unregistered learners a link to your test and they can access it instantly, adding their own details. You can choose to save these results at the cost of one credit per test taken. If you don't want to save the results, the service is free to use. Q) Does ClassMarker store my credit card details? A) ClassMarker does not store or process any credit card information. All transactions are processed via the highly secure Paypal.com website. Q) How can I take my test again? A) It is up to your teacher/instructor to allow you to re-take a test. Q) How do I generate a registration code? A) Go to the Administer learners page under your class you wish to register your learner in. Assign how many learners you need in the class and you can the print the unique registration codes from this page. Q) How do I make my question text Bold, Italic, Underlined, hyper-linked etc? A) Type your question, hightlight the text you wish to Bold or Underline for example, and select the specific button to highlight or link your text. Q) How does ClassMarker help prevent cheating? A) ClassMarker allows you to randomise your tests 'questions' and 'multiple choice' answers so each time a test is taken, questions and answers are shown in separate sequences. You can also set time limits on your tests as well. Q) How is my data backed up and secured? A) ClassMarker does an incremental backup of all data 3 times and hour. Q) How many learners can I have registered under my account? A) Using Professional, learners need to be registered to log in and take your exams You can have up to 1000 learners registered under your account. Q) How many question banks can I have to keep my questions organized? A) You can create categories to organize your questions within your question bank. Each category can contain different questions. Q) How many teachers/instructors can use an account? A) Only one teacher/instructor is allowed per account. If you want someone else to administer tests or tasks using your account you will both need to use the same username and password. However, you cannot share an account to give online tests with another teacher or instructor. Q) I get an Active X warning when adding questions. What can I do to stop these? A) This is a generic warning from Internet explorer. Q) I have forgotten my username? A) If you have a teacher account, you can have your username sent to you via this page. Q) I want to present ClassMarker to my work colleagues. Do you have any presentation material? A) Yes you can download our presentation document here. Q) Is ClassMarker Professional different from ClassMarker Rebranded quizzes? A) Yes: these are two separate options. To find out more, go to the Quiz maker features page. Q) Is there a list of recently updated features in ClassMarker? A) Yes. See the Online testing features list, which is updated with new features as and when they are ready. Q) My answers do not seem to reflect what I have chosen. A) Your answers will always reflect your chosen responses. Please make sure you are reading the results correctly. Q) One of my learners is getting an error message that says 'The Registration Code you are using is incorrect or has already been used'. Why? A) Each Registration Code is unique and can be used only once. Please ensure you give each Registration Code to one learner only. Q) The question or answers do not seem to display? A) Please make sure you have JavaScript turned on in your web browser and you are using one of the latest web browsers. Q) What is the cost per learner registered with ClassMarker? A) There is no cost per learner. If you choose to upgrade your account, you pay a single annual subscription fee. Q) What is the maximum number of questions and tests allowed on one account? A) There is currently no limit on the number of questions and tests allowed on your account. You are limited to only one teacher/instructor per account however. You cannot upgrade and share accounts. Two teachers must use two separate accounts. Q) What languages can I create tests in? A) You can create tests in all languages. Q) What's the difference between Classes and Groups? A) Create Classes if you want to deliver testing in a class-based environment. You can assign your learners to classes and give them each their own username and password. A Class can be assigned multiple tests and can contain multiple registered learners. Only learners registered to the class can take the tests assigned to that class. Q) What's the difference between Education and Business subscription? A) Education subscribers pay a discounted price for non-profit organisations. If your business is in the education sector but is profit-making you need to pay the Business subscription cost. Q) Where do I upgrade my account or buy credits? A) Go to 'My account', then choose the 'Upgrade options' tab. Q) Where do my students log in? A) Students will log in on our homepage, using the same 'log in' box you do. Q) Which package should I use, Professional or External testing? A) Please see our Which package should I use? section on our Pricing & features page. My classes Q) Can I choose a username and password for my learners? A) Yes, however you choose to register your learners on the 'Administer learners' page, each learner account can have their username chosen and changed once at a later time, if the learner wishes to change it to something easier to remember. Q) Can I delete my learners' results? A) Yes. Select 'Delete results' on your 'Class results' pages and your individual 'Learner results' pages. Q) Can my learners change the username or password on their accounts? A) Yes. Learners can change their username once, and change their password unlimited times. You can view your learners' usernames, but not their passwords. You can also reset their passwords for them. Q) Do my learners need their own email addresses? A) No. Learners can take your online quizzes without registering an email address. Q) How can I delete a class? A) Go to 'My classes' and select 'Tests and results' for the class you wish to delete. At the bottom of the page is a 'Delete now' link. Q) How do I create a class? A) Go to 'My classes' and select 'Create new class'. Q) How do I delete learners? A) You can delete individual learners or all learners in a class via 'Administer learners'. Q) How do I register my learners so they can take their tests? A) You can either:
Q) How do I reset learners' passwords? A) Go to 'Administer learners' and you can either make all passwords the same, or change each password individually by selecting 'Details' for each learner. Q) How do I see learners' results? A) Test results are saved under your class pages or group pages. In class pages, select the 'Class results' link next to your test. In group pages, select the 'Group results' tab to view the results. Q) How do my learners access their results? A) You have full control over how learners access their results for each test. You can choose to show results after the test is finished, show the score only, show score and corrections or show score and corrections including the correct answers. This also applies to learner taking external tests. Q) How many learners can I register on my account? A) You can register up to 1000 learners on your account at any one time. You can delete and reuse learner places as many times as you like. Q) How many questions can I display per page? A) You can show 1-10 questions on each page. Q) One of my learners has forgotten his/her username. How can I retrieve it? A) Go to the learner's class and select 'Administer learners'. Select 'Details' for the relevant learner to see his/her username. You can reset the learner's password on this page as well. Q) What happens when I want to change the learners assigned to a class, e.g. at the start of a new teaching year? A) When you have finished teaching one class of learners and you wish to register new learners to the class, first delete the old learners from the class. Then you can register new learners into the class. My groups (external testing with branding) Q) Can I compare results within groups? A) Yes. You can view a range of statistics for each group, including test scores from highest to lowest, test completion time from fastest to slowest, and more. Q) Can I direct learners to a specific page on my website depending on whether they pass or fail a test? A) Yes. You can choose to direct learners to different pages according to their final score in the test. Q) How can I add a theme to my External/Rebranded tests? A) Go to 'Manage Rebranded tests' and select the 'Theme' tab. Once you have created a theme you can go to any group's 'Preferences' page and assign the theme to a test. Just go to 'Group theme' and select the theme you want. Q) How many learners can take my external tests? A) There is no limit to the number of learners who can take your external tests. If you wish to save results you will need to ensure you have sufficient credits. Q) If I post a link to an external test on my website, can I make changes without posting a new link? A) Yes. You can make changes to a group, a test or the theme assigned to a group. The changes will be displayed when learners follow the original link. My Tests Q) Can a learner go back to a previous question during a test? A) Yes. Set the test to allow learners to return to previous questions and they will be provided with links to go back to any question in the test. Q) Can ClassMarker add questions randomly to my test from my question bank? A) Yes. Go to 'My tests' and choose the 'Edit' link under your test. Go to 'Extra settings' and you will see the option 'Choose random questions'. Here you can set how many questions to include and choose the categories from which they are selected. Q) Can I add pass marks to my tests? A) Yes. You can also add your own messages to display to the learner on passing or failing. Q) Can I allow my learners to save a quiz halfway through and then resume it at a later date? A) Yes. Our online testing service enables you to control whether learners can save quizzes and log in at a later date to finish their test. If you choose this option, tests can be saved and resumed as many times as you like. Q) Can I copy quizzes other Teachers/Instructors have created using ClassMarker? A) Yes, but 'only' the quizzes that have been shared by their creators. Q) Can I edit grades manually after a test is taken? A) Yes. You can edit each question's grade and the total score will be recalculated automatically. Q) Can I edit the order in which questions are given? A) Yes. You can add new questions to your test or choose existing questions from your question bank, then arrange the order in which they appear. Alternatively you can choose to have them appear in a random order. Q) Can I export online test results to Excel spreadsheets? A) Yes. Q) Can I have quiz results emailed to me? A) Yes, you can set to have quiz results emailed to you when you assign the test to a class or group. Q) Can I link directly to quizzes from my website? A) Yes. You can create external links to your quizzes in ClassMarker and even make these pages look like your own website. Find out more on our External quizzes with branding page. Q) Can I password protect my tests? A) Yes. Using ClassMarker External quizzes you can password protect your tests. Alternatively, if you create classes within ClassMarker, your learners will only be able to see your online tests when you assign them to the class. Q) Can I print my tests in ClassMarker to be taken on paper? A) Yes. ClassMarker allows you to organize and format your questions ready to print to paper. Q) Can I set a time limit on quizzes? A) Yes. Set time limits via the 'Assign tests' page when you assign tests to your classes or groups. Q) Can I set different questions to be worth different points? A) Yes. Q) Can I show a message/feedback at the end of the test informing the learner if they have passed or failed the test? A) Yes, you can add your own pass or failed feedback to be shown depending on their grade. ClassMarker will also display their score, percentage mark and corrected questions if you choose to show these. Q) Can I show feedback immediately after each question is taken? A) Yes. You can set tests to show feedback after each question or at the end of the test, or show no feedback at all. Q) Can unregistered learners take a test? A) Yes. You can use our external online testing to send learners a link to your test. An unregistered learner can then add their details and take the test. Results are saved in ClassMarker and you can opt to have them sent to you. Find out more about External quizzes with branding Q) Do I have to display the score after a test? A) No. You can hide the score from your learners and then choose to show it at a later date if you wish. Q) How can I enable learners to retake a quiz? A) You can set a quiz to practice mode, allowing the quiz to be taken as many times as you choose. You can also find links to delete a single learner's results from the bottom of the 'Test results page' (when viewing their test results), or you can delete a whole class's results at the bottom of the 'Class Results' page. Q) How do I add categories? A) Go to 'My tests' and choose 'Add category' from the left hand navigation bar. Q) How do I add images to questions and answers? A) You add images using the BBCode [img] tag. Q) How do my learners find and take their online tests? A) There are several options available:
Q) How long do online tests stay in ClassMarker? A) As long as you keep your account open, we will keep your online tests available. This includes external online tests. Q) I added questions to my test but they're not showing. A) Make sure you added the questions to your test and not your question bank. If you go to 'My tests' and select the 'Edit' link under your test, you can see the list of questions in your test and add more if you need to. Q) I am a student. I have taken a test on ClassMarker but have not received my test results. How can I get them? A) ClassMarker will only email test results to upgraded teacher/instructor accounts, not student accounts. Q) If I opt to receive online test results by email, will I see the full results in the emails? A) Yes. You will be sent the questions, the correct answers and each learner’s answers with corrections. Q) Is there a way to randomize the questions within a quiz, so every time a quiz is taken the questions are in a different order? A) Yes. You can categorize all of the questions in your question bank, and then set a test to randomly choose questions from one or more of your categories. Q) The settings in my quiz are different from the ones I chose. A) Check you are viewing the quiz from the specific Class or Group page, rather than from your 'My tests' page. Remember that you can chose your default test settings on your 'My tests' page, but then chose different settings for a test in your Classes or Groups. Check the test settings in your 'Assign tests' pages to make sure you have the correct settings for your class or group. Q) Where do I view and change the settings for my tests? A) To change settings for tests, go to the 'Assign tests' page under your class or group. Here you can view and edit settings for a specific test within that class or group. Hence, you could choose to use different settings for the same test, when assigned to multiple classes or groups. Q) Why won't my images show. A) This will happen when the file path (link) you add for your image is not correct. Generally the link should end in .jpg .gif or .png. Double check the file path you have used by copying and pasting it to your browser’s address bar. This will test whether the image will show in the browser on its own. |
